    Research interests

    Xander Lub holds an MSc from University of Leiden and a PhD from Tilburg University. He started of his career at University of Auckland, New Zealand and then spent the next 16 years in (hospitality) research and education, working at Hotelschool The Hague, Saxion University Hospitality Business School, and VU University Amsterdam. Xander joined NHTV’s Academy of Hotel and Facility Management in October 2015 as Professor of Hospitality Experience.

    Trained as a psychologist and an organizational scientist, Xander’s research focuses on understanding how people (customers, guests, employees) interpret their changing environment and translate their understanding into action, and focuses on the implications this has for business. These implications are prominently in two fields: 1. user-centric design for hospitality organizations, and 2. the impact of organizational change on employee perceptions.

    Xander has been/is Visiting Professor at University of Bath, University of Calgary, VU University Amsterdam (Faculty of Economics and Business Administration) and Nyenrode Business University. Furthermore, he serves in editorial board or reviewer positions for six international (hospitality) management journals, has received several research awards, and he has (co-)authored over seventy articles in leading international hospitality and management journals, conferences, as well as chapters in scholarly books. Moreover, he has consulted to the industry for years and has taught in Bachelor, Master, and Executive Education programs.

    Xander also chairs the joint Hospitality Excellence Program on behalf of the five Dutch Hotelschools and the Royal Dutch Hospitality Board and is Director of Research of the EuroCHRIE Network.
