Research interests

Marisa De Brito has a background in sustainable supply chain management/circular economy and urban management. She has more than 15 years of international work experience. Having worked in Portugal, she worked in several universities and research institutes in the Netherlands, Cambridge University (UK), and has spent time in INSEAD Business School (France).

Previously she was a member of the Management Team of the Academy of Leisure at BUas, managing internationalisation, different educational programs and research/ knowledge development. Currently she is involved with several internationalisation projects and research/business development regarding Events, Placemaking and Destinations at BUas.

She is an active member of the international Association for Tourism and Leisure Education (ATLAS) and of the Dutch Centre of Expertise on Leisure, Tourism and Hospitality (CELTH) in the Netherlands. She's also a certified “A Greener Festival” international assessor.

She currently teaches/coaches/delivers training, publishes and carries out research projects on topics related with Events & Placemaking (in relation to strategy, decision-making, sustainability and performance). Creativity and Human Development are also topics very dear to her.
