    Research interests

Joost is principal investigator in the field of cycling behavior research at Breda University of Applied Sciences. In his work Joost focusses on active transport and the interaction with the built environment using innovative research approaches such as GPS tracking, BIG-data analysis and Virtual Reality.

He studied traffic engineering and urban geography and is an experienced researcher and lecturer in the field of urban development and mobility, specialized in traffic forecast modeling. He has been involved in many international and national research projects, published articles and conference papers.
