Research interests
Jeroen Knol is a Senior Research Policy Advisor at Breda University of Applied Sciences, where he supports professors and researchers to develop their strategies on the five cross-domain key topics of the BUas-wide research program. His goal is to strengthen the connection between education and research, and to foster innovation and impact in the domains of BUas.
Jeroen Knol received his MSc degree in 2004 and his PhD degree in 2008 in Food Science at Wageningen University, the Netherlands. From 2008 till 2013 he worked for Wageningen UR Food & Biobased Research successively as product developer, business development manager and senior scientist in food design and structuring, where he coordinated different multi-disciplinary projects (national, EU and international) on food reformulation, sustainable foods, novel processing technologies and product development. From 2014 till 2023, he was the Managing Director of EFFoST, the European Federation of Food Science and Technology, leading a non-profit association that enabled knowledge exchange and networking among food professionals across Europe. At EFFoST he coordinated the activities of EFFoST in 20 EU funded projects (5 project in FP7, 11 projects in H2020 and 4 in Horizon Europe), and was Work package leader in 10 of these projects.
