Personal profile

Research interests

Jessika Weber (1983, German) is researcher at the Faculty of Digital Entertainment at NHTV under the professorship of Applied Games, Innovation and Society at NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands, where she conducts research on games with the focus on travel, tourism organisations. Her most recent research explored the game experience of tourists with location-based augmented reality games in urban environments.

Her research interests range from (mobile) game experience research of location-based games to the application of games in travel and tourism organisations as a tool to explain complex events. Particularly interesting in this research context is the application of games in design thinking in order to facilitate creative processes.

A current project is SCITHOS (www.scithos.eu), a EU-funded project on smart tourism hospitality, which aims to develop a game for tourism policy makers in order to enable sustainable behaviour in urban environments. She is a member of the International Federation for Information Technology in Travel and Tourism (IFITT), Digital Games Research Group (DiGRA) and the Interaction Design Foundation.
