Erdinç holds a PhD in Social Sciences from Wageningen University and Research. He has multifaceted areas of research interests, which include informal economy, entrepreneurship, destination management and marketing, sociology of tourism. He has (co)authored more than 30 academic papers, book chapters, (co-)edited special volumes, books, and apart from that (co-)chaired international conferences and special sessions on the topics tourism paradoxes, conflict-ridden destinations, and power relations. He has been the vice president of the international tourism group RC50 at the International Sociology Association since 2014.
