Research interests

Eke Eijgelaar obtained his Master degree in Sustainable Tourism Management at Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (Germany) in 2007. He has been working for BUas’ Centre for Sustainability, Tourism and Transport (CSTT) as a researcher since 2008, before also taking up lecturer activities at BUas.

Eke specializes in the environmental impacts of tourism, with a focus on tourism energy use and emissions. This takes him to many related topics, such as high and low carbon forms of tourism (e.g. cruise tourism), and mitigation strategies and tools such as carbon management and carbon calculators, and more recently also to topics such as overtourism and aviation politics.
