Research interests
Adriaan van Liempt, PhD works as a teacher and researcher in sociology, methodology, and data science at the Academy Leisure & Events (BUas). He is a sociologist by background, and historically his research areas have included work, care and law. His current research focuses on visitor experience and impact in the cultural industry, particularly in museums, heritage sites, and theatres, primarily from a methodological perspective. His ongoing research also longitudinally examines entrepreneurial intention among BUas students.
Van Liempt has owned a software development company for over 20 years, and as a programming, data and modelling nerd, he enjoys developments in the fields of data science and machine learning. As AI Pioneer at BUas, Van Liempt develops frameworks for responsible engagement with large language models, focusing on prompt scaffolding approaches that maintain critical thinking and human agency in human-AI collaboration.
