Can we fall in love with a machine, a virtual being? If so, why would one fall in love? Can this love be real? Moreover, does it matter if it feels real? And what are the potential consequences? On the 23rd of February, the International Center will show the movie at Cinecitta, preceded by a lecture from Nick van Apeldoorn. In his lecture, he will explore how this movie relates to concepts in philosophy and his work on virtual humans. Nick van Apeldoorn is a researcher at Breda University of Applied Sciences who manages a joined Digital Reality Lab in collaboration with MindLabs, the University of Tilburg and Fontys. This Lab focuses on the development, implications and ramifications of virtual humans, metaverse applications and digital twins.
